How the gap map works
Pick a business type and a place. The map pins every matching business among the over 3.6 million US businesses we have from open map data, and shades each ZIP by people per business compared with the U.S. average. Dark red ZIPs have none mapped; orange ones have at least twice as many people per business as the country overall. The list ranks the most underserved ZIPs in view and shows how far away the nearest one is, because customers cross ZIP lines.
These are estimates from open data, not a census of businesses. Use the map to find places worth a closer look, then check them on the ground before you buy or open anything. Questions or a correction? Email [email protected].
